Bands

it's a long way to the top

“The band Elwood, the band!”
Unlike the Blues Brothers, Blackbook bands aren't getting chased by the entire Chicago Illinois Law Enforcement Community but they are getting chased by many venues and event producers around the country. One trait we look for in our artists is how comfortable they are with themselves because it's a sign of having total command over ones own talent, usually accumulated over years of experience. What does that mean for you? Less stress and you'll have a group of people who are reliable, friendly and approachable. They've all got stories to tell and don't be afraid to ask them to share one or two because it could be the funniest tale you've ever heard.

DJ's

play me something - i can dance too!

It's an addiction, literally. These guys are addicted to collecting good music. Searching the net, the second-hand record shop in that alleyway no one knows the name of, the garage sale they nearly drove past or the swap meet where someone's trash is another persons treasure. It's hard to explain the feeling that they experience when they find their “Neo”, 'the one' that's been so hard to find. The word “euphoria” comes to mind. Knowledge is useless unless it's shared and the Blackbook DJ's live to share the gold which they spin on their 'wheels of steel'. We've heard stories along the lines of “I bought this 7-inch vinyl from some store in Berlin, I think. They only made 5 of them, I paid $700 for it but it was worth every cent”. They are more than DJ's, they are educators.

Solo/Duo's

no chevy's will be driven to any levee's

A famous Australian icon once said that “one is the lonliest number” but he had never met any of the Blackbook solo artists. The attention which our solo artists get when they perform sure doesn't seem lonely, it's almost enviable in fact. When it comes to the Blackbook duos, it's the only time where 1+1 can, in fact, equal 4. Sure, there may only be two people on stage but we live in a day and age where multi-tasking is the key to success. You might see one of our guitarists playing the chords and the bass notes at the same time, or the vocalist playing piano and triggering drum loops or, and here's the freaky one, you might see the drummer playing the kit with one hand and playing congas with the other.
